Sports

At Gordon's pupils have the opportunity of both participation and excellence in a huge variety of sports. There are so many good reasons for this: establishing the habit of physical fitness, benefitting intellectual development, developing teamworking and social skills, bringing contact with other schools and countries and, not least, to add enjoyment and a sense of community to the life of the College.

In the Senior School most year groups have a period each of PE and Swimming and all have an afternoon of curricular Games at our 40 acre sports grounds at Countesswells. Athletics, cricket, hockey, netball, rugby, swimming and tennis form the core of our curriculum. Gordon's pupils are especially strongly represented at district and national levels in these sports.

S5/6 pupils have the choice of a diverse additional programme including aerobics, badminton, cross-country, curling, football, golf, rock climbing, rowing, squash, trampolining, volleyball and weight training. A particular feature of our programme includes the imaginative use of facilities outside the school, both in Aberdeen and in the rivers and glens, ski-slopes and mountains of north east Scotland.
