Junior School Curriculum
At present the Junior School Curriculum is guided by the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence guidelines.
The following areas of the curriculum are being delivered fully in line with Curriculum for Excellence - Maths, Social Subjects, Science, French, Art, Music, Drama and PE.
The areas of Language and RME are being developed at present in line with the Curriculum for Excellence and will be completed by the end of the academic session 2013 - 14.
In all subject areas however we have adopted an active methodology as suggested in Curriculum for Excellence.
A lot of work is done orally concentrating on higher order thinking skills. A mixture of teaching approaches are used - whole class groups and individual, depending on the particular need. We include an element of pupil choice in the learning activities particularly in the area of Social Subjects.
A cross curricular approach is adopted between curricular areas where relevant.
On the website you will find further information on each curricular area and you can also see the broad spread of areas covered in each year group.
