Mentoring Programme

The Gordonian Mentoring Programme has been launched to provide senior pupils and young alumni access to the wealth of experience residing within the Gordonian community. The programme has been established to formalise ways for young Gordonians to learn from experienced Gordonians who can help advise and guide when considering career paths and life beyond school.

If you are interested in getting involved in the programme as a mentor or a mentee then we would love to hear from you. The programme offers the following support:

  • advice
  • mentoring
  • speaking at a school event
  • hosting a pupil for work experience or an internship
  • facilitating introductions with experts in specialist career or university course.

Sarah Black, Class of ‘18, Mentee comments: “I am a second year medical student and in the near future I have multiple month long placements which can be in any area of medicine. Last year I contacted the Development Office to get involved with the Gordonian Mentoring Programme and I was put in contact with a number of former pupils who were senior in their fields of medicine and also very willing to help out a younger Gordonian. This experience has highlighted to me how powerful and unique the Gordonian network is and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to develop professional relationships within their field."

Craig Kelly, Class of ‘04, Mentor, shares: "It has been a rewarding experience to be involved in the Mentoring Programme and to support a fellow Gordonian with their post RGC studies and career opportunities. I was delighted to connect with Gavin and provide an insight into a legal career. I am particularly happy to hear that Gavin has found my advice helpful and embarking on a legal career. I also found it very interesting to hear how Gavin was getting on with his legal studies and to discuss his career plans and aspirations. I hope to remain involved in the programme and will be recommending it to my other Gordonian friends if they are not already involved."
