Learning

Robert Gordon's College follows the Scottish curriculum and from the earliest age children are used to active interdisciplinary learning in the class, building confidence through participation. We place a high value on developing independent learning skills with all pupils, preparing them for life beyond school.

The academic progress and outstanding examination results tell a story of high expectations and hard work. Small class sizes, teachers who communicate with passion and expertise, specialist teaching from an early age, attention to the needs of individual pupils: excellence in the classroom is built upon these foundations. Our tradition of academic strength is underlined by strong year on year examination success. Junior School pupils exceed national literacy and numeracy rates and Senior School examination results regularly place us among the top schools in Scotland. 96% of S6 Leavers go on to Higher and Further Education.

Academic strength sits side by side with the School’s unrivalled choice of co-curricular and sporting opportunity with over 120 Clubs and Societies available. As well as the fulfillment of doing an activity well, the sense of participation which comes from playing in an Orchestra or Hockey team, or completing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award hike, will often remain among the best memories of school days.
