Transition to Senior School
The transition from Primary to Secondary is one of the most important steps in a child’s school career. We have developed and extended our transition programme in recent years to help with one of the most important steps in a child’s school career. At Robert Gordon's College we are proud to welcome children locally (from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire) and internationally to our Gordon’s Community.
From Primary 6 children are working on shared curricular programmes of work to ensure a seamless transition into Secondary Education. Our Primary 7 pupils are taught in the Senior School on a weekly basis for Art, Drama, IT and Science allowing our pupils to become familiar with Senior School staff and the classrooms. Many of our Specialist teachers also work in both the Junior and the Senior School which helps promote and develop positive relationships.
Pupils are also involved in various transition events and Welcome Days when they progress to the Senior School. These events allow the children to familiarise themselves with the new academic structure, new surroundings and allows them to integrate with their peers from across the wider school community.
