Curriculum
At Robert Gordon’s College Nursery, children follow the Curriculum for Excellence at Early Level, where learning through quality play experiences helps to develop curiosity, resilience, leadership and a love of learning. Our qualified and experienced Nursery team provides expert support to ensure every child reaches their full potential in a warm, nurturing and exciting environment.
Our responsive curriculum covers all eight areas of learning: literacy, numeracy and mathematics, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, RMPS, science, social studies, and technologies. Children enjoy weekly specialist subject teaching in Art, Drama, Modern Languages (French, Mandarin and Spanish), Music, Physical Education and Outdoor Learning, as well as visits to the Junior School Library, enriching their experiences and sparking new interests.
The Nursery is an active and engaged part of the wider school. Nursery children visit the Junior School regularly for assemblies, library sessions, Specialist Subject teaching and collaborative learning with their Junior School friends. Active learning outdoors is an essential part of our approach, providing opportunities to engage in experiences that support their development in all areas of our curriculum. Our central Aberdeen location also allows children to explore the local environment, adding further richness to their learning.
We value close partnerships with parents and use high-quality observations and interactions to track progress. Through our online learning tool, you receive regular updates on your child’s achievements, with formal progress discussions in March and November and a written report provided in June.
At Robert Gordon’s College Nursery, your child will experience quality learning in an exciting environment, guided by a team that knows each child as an individual, helping them develop skills for lifelong learning while making every day joyful, meaningful, and full of discovery.
