Curriculum
Nursery children follow the Curriculum for Excellence at Early Level with the emphasis on learning through quality play experiences to foster curiosity, resilience, leadership and learning. This is enriched by Specialist Subjects including Art, French, Mandarin, Music and Physical Education.
You can be confident that our fully qualified Teacher and Early Years Practitioners support your child in reaching their full potential. Our very good understanding of pedagogy and play is reflected in our responsive curriculum developing your child’s skills for lifelong learning. We know individual children very well as learners and have high expectations in all areas of the curriculum. As a team we make very good use of high quality observations and interactions to make accurate judgements about progress made by your child. Using an online learning tool you will receive regular and up to date information on your child’s progress and achievements. You will also be offered the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in March and November with a written summative report on your child’s progress in June.
The Nursery is an active and engaged part of the wider school. Nursery children visit the Junior School regularly for assemblies, library visits, Specialist Subject teaching and learn collaboratively with their Junior School friends.
Active learning outdoors is essential for young children providing opportunities to engage in experiences that support their development in all areas of our curriculum.
Our city centre location provides great opportunities for the children to explore their local environment on a regular basis. Children love to play outside daily and there are regular opportunities for our children to enjoy the activities that we provide.
