Advanced Higher RMPS

Course Start Date: August 2025

The Advanced Higher RMPS course builds on knowledge and skills from prior study or experiences in Religious, Moral, and Philosophical Studies, offering an in-depth exploration of how these subjects shape human history, culture, and contemporary life.

Pupils investigate the significance and impact of religion, morality, and philosophy, critically examining how these areas influence values and lives. Through the study of topics such as the philosophy of religion, medical ethics, and religious experience, pupils develop a nuanced understanding of diverse perspectives, beliefs, and challenges to these viewpoints.

The course fosters analytical and evaluative skills by exploring arguments and evidence, encouraging pupils to engage deeply with complex questions. It also promotes independent research, enabling pupils to investigate a chosen religious, moral, or philosophical issue with accuracy and attention to detail.

This course equips pupils with critical thinking, research, and evaluative skills that are valuable for further study and meaningful engagement with global ethical and philosophical issues.
