Jamie represents Scotland at national Bridge championships

At the weekend, Jamie D (S6) represented Scotland in the U20 team to compete for The Peggy Bayer trophy at the Home Internationals Bridge Competition.

Playing 10 matches across the three day event, Jamie and his team mates played a total of 160 boards against teams from each home nation.

Placing second at the competition, Jamie D detailed: “It became clear that despite their early losses Team England were on track to win. A showing against Northern Ireland didn’t deliver quite the points Scotland hoped for, leading to a tense last match, as it was unclear who would be second! Thankfully Wales pulled it out of the bag and beat Northern Ireland, keeping the team in third, and allowing Scotland to claim the (metaphorical) silver.

“I was proud to represent Scotland, and after an intense and exciting weekend, we were delighted to come second. Hopefully we will do even better next year.”

Jamie’s Bridge journey began when he joined the College in Primary 7 where he was introduced to a program for young people to play the sport at the Aberdeen Bridge Club. Over the years, generous players have shared their time and expertise which has been invaluable to Jamie developing his skills.
