Some of our Senior CCF cadets have had a fantastic start to the summer break travelling across Scotland to participate in various camps.
Army
The Army Section deployed to the Barry Buddon, training area north of Dundee, for a week full of challenging, varied and enjoyable military training.
Our cadets took on thrilling activities such as paintballing, coasteering, fieldcraft, and an intensive live range package.
On the final day, pupils headed to the range to fire the cadet rifle. The basic shoot consists of firing 35 rounds at 100 metres, which all of our cadets passed, and many of our cadets progressed to the more advanced shoot of 200 metres. Congratulations to Ethan W who earned himself the best advanced shoot score.
The highlight of the week was the overnight 36 hour exercise which included patrolling, intelligence gathering, living off the land and concluded with a night ambush and a dawn section attack.
RAF
RAF cadets had a great time at Forces Manor, Kincraig for a full week of adventure training.
They started the week by conquering a 9km hike to Meall a' Bhuachaille via Green Lochen, before sheltering in the Ryvoan Bothy due to heavy rain, and then celebrated with ice cream at Loch Morlich.
They spent time in the waters of Loch Insch canoeing, sailing, and participating in an exhilarating Jungle Float.
In the middle of the week the pupils explored the Morayvia Aviation Museum, got hands-on with helicopters and planes before spending the rest of their day giving back to the armed forces by gardening at Forces Manor and organising a library for veterans.
The pupils ended their week with a thrilling 13 zip wire and 0.5km descent, solving escape rooms at Aviemore, and enjoyed delicious fish and chips on the way home.
It was an energetic week full of adventure, learning, and giving back - well done to all of our cadets!
