It was an incredibly busy month for our CCF Army contingent and Pipe Band pupils.

Army Section Spring Training Weekend

Some of our S2-S6 Army section pupils travelled to the Gordon Barracks in Aberdeen for their annual Spring Training Weekend. 

Throughout the weekend, the cadets developed their basic military skills, living in the field, patrolling, weapons training, first aid and command tasks. 

S4 cadets enjoyed a day of adventure training with Mr Tayler, tackling the Moray Monster Trails. The mountain bike adventure training allowed them to learn new skills and bond as a team in preparation for stepping up into leadership roles in S5.

Some of our S3 and S4 cadets teamed up with our local Army Cadet Force to deliver a range day at Condor Barracks in Arbroath where they developed their marksmanship skills.

Speaking about the weekend, Capt Paul shared: “Many of these lessons were delivered by S5 and S6 NCOs who will be taking part in a week-long Brigade run Senior Cadet Instructor Cadre during the Easter Holidays. Allowing them to develop into young leaders. 

“All of these wonderful opportunities were delivered with no charge to parents. Both 51 Brigade Scotland and RGC are committed to providing valuable low cost co-curricular activities for all pupils. A huge thank you to all of the Adult Volunteers. Without their commitment to continuous personal development, planning and time, none of this would be possible.”

Senior Pipe Band show support to Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal

The Senior Pipe Band were proud to support the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal with a lunchtime performance outside Marks and Spencer.

During the musical presentation, our pipers and drummers adorned themselves with the daffodil pin, showcasing their support with immense pride.
 

S5 pupil performs with Glenfiddich Solo Piping Champion

James (S5) gave an unforgettable performance at The Gordon Highlanders Museum alongside Glenfiddich Solo Piping Champion, Callum Beaumont. 

James is a celebrated soloist in his own right, representing RGC Pipe Band and a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, he has had great success during the Highland Games Summer season. We look forward to seeing him on the competition boards later this year!
