Throughout November and December, our Combined Cadet Force have engaged in a variety of community activities across the city. 
 

November

RAF Section cadets participated in a joint training exercise with Albyn School. Held at the Cadet Training Centre in Boddam, the pupils put their theory lessons into practice which included command tasks, flight simulation, uniform preparation, skill at arms, and first aid. There was a new activity this year - Strictly Come Drill!

Some of our CCF RAF cadets enjoyed a fantastic day of Air Experience Flying at Leuchars Station. The cadets embraced the opportunity to take control of their aircraft whilst in flight and were shown a wide range of aerobatics over Fife. 

The Pipe Band and Highland Dancers were delighted to once again be invited to open the Aberdeen Christmas Village. Pipers, drummers and dancers from across the College performed several energetic tunes in front of Marischal College to the members of the public. 

 

December

Our CCF Passing Out Parade arrived early this year for our S2 recruits. After participating in generic CCF training throughout the Autumn term, which included drill, map and compass, first aid and basic skill at arms, the pupils lined up in the Quad where they then chose which section they wanted to join and progress their training with. The new Army and RAF recruits will now begin section specific training in the New Year, following a training syllabus which will culminate at the annual summer camps in 2024. 

RGC Christmas Cadets once again took part in the annual Walking Home for Christmas campaign. The pupils blended their CCF core values of loyalty, selfless commitment, discipline and respect for others into raising an amazing £731.58 which will be donated to Walking With the Wounded, a military charity which provides mental health support and more for ex service personnel. 

On December 18th, our talented senior pipers and drummers were honoured to perform at the International Migrant Event hosted at the Rox Hotel. This significant occasion marks International Migrants Day, observed annually on December 18th in accordance with the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrants and Members of their Families.

Finally, as a token of appreciation for their hard work throughout the last year, the Pipe Band and Highland Dancers were treated to an epic ice skating session. We can’t wait to see everyone again in January and embark on an exciting year ahead.
