Future Pathways: Resilience and support pave the way for Chiamaka

Chiamaka joined Robert Gordon’s College in S1 from Kingswells Primary. She studied Computing, Chemistry, and Biology, achieving straight As in her Advanced Higher 2025 results, and is now preparing to study Medicine at the University of Aberdeen.

Reflecting on her journey at Robert Gordon’s College, Chiamaka shared how resilience, support from teachers, and a strong school community helped her achieve her goals. She said: "My results impacted whether or not I got into my dream university for my dream course. My next steps are going to study medicine at the University of Aberdeen.

"One of the main challenges I faced was with Advanced Higher Computing because I crashed the subject. With help from the fantastic computing department and by dedicating more hours to studying and practice, I was able to overcome the difficulties and make steady progress in the subject.

"The teachers’ dedication and passion for their subject is really inspiring and is carried across through their teaching. Their support encourages me to push myself and aim higher. Beyond academics, the welcoming school community has helped me build lifelong friendships.

“My favourite part of school has been S6. Being in my final year gave me the chance to really appreciate how far I've come, both personally and academically. It was a time of reflection, growth, and making the most of every moment. S6 was the perfect way to end my school journey and create lasting memories before moving on to my next chapter.”

Chiamaka could often be seen actively involved in school life beyond the classroom. She enjoyed playing netball, where she served as Vice Captain of the 2nd VIIs team, demonstrating leadership and teamwork. She also enjoyed giving back to the school community, particularly through volunteering at the junior school science camp and helping out weekly in a Primary 1 science class.

As one of the leaders of MedSocs, Chiamaka took initiative in planning and running sessions, sharing her passion for medicine with fellow pupils. She also helped lead tours around the school, representing the community she is proud to be part of.

We wish Chiamaka every success as she begins this exciting new chapter and warmly congratulate her on all she has achieved during her time at Robert Gordon’s College. Her leadership, dedication, and compassion have left a lasting impression on our school community, and we look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish in the future.
