Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, we love you!

Primary 7 pupils recently shared their truly scrumptious production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with families, friends and the wider community. The cast captivated the audience, gaining a standing ovation for bringing this timeless classic to the MacRobert Hall!

Months of hard work, planning, and rehearsals resulted in a show that was nothing short of extraordinary. ‘Chitty’ tells the enchanting tale of Caractacus Potts and his family as they embark on an adventure with Truly Scrumptious to rescue their beloved Grandpa from Vulgaria. Full of catchy songs and unforgettable characters, this whimsical tale celebrates the power of family, adventure and believing in the impossible.

Oliver C and Annabel A, who played Caractacus Potts and Truly Scrumptious, said: "We had such a great time performing, singing and dancing with our year group behind us.
Everyone had a great experience, with many laughs, which saw us through the hard work.
Teamwork does indeed make the dream work!"

Mrs Rose, Teacher of Drama, commented: “Staging a school show is such an exciting thing to do, from the initial stages of the production announcement and auditions through to the addition of lights, mics and costumes on opening night. The experience of being part of our school's show club is always a highlight for pupils and staff alike. CCBB was a brilliant adventure and while our car may have flown, our pupils' confidence soared as the audiences revelled in their performance in our MacRobert Hall. The memories from this production will be cherished forever for everyone involved and we are already excited for our current P7s to join the Senior Show Club in S1!”

Mrs Massie, Head of Creative Arts, added: “Congratulations to Primary 7 for an exceptional performance. You’ve shown that with creativity, teamwork, and determination, anything is possible! Three performances of such a high standard from P7 pupils is a huge achievement at such a young age and I am immensely proud of the entire cast. I am equally proud and indebted to our team of teachers and support staff who support our pupils backstage and bring our show to life. A special mention must go to Mr Lamplugh, Miss Gordon and Miss Boyne for building, staging and flying our magical car! Our S6 helpers, many of whom took part in their own P7 show, were integral to supporting and inspiring our pupils throughout the process.

“As part of our community performance we were delighted to welcome new pupils and their families to the show, as well as residents of local care homes who had a fabulous afternoon watching the show and visiting our Junior School Library for refreshments. Our P7 cast are already looking forward to more performance opportunities in S1 and rehearsals are underway for our next senior school production in November, the Disney classic: ‘Beauty and the Beast’. “At Robert Gordon's College, the creative arts are integral to school life, promoting self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of achievement among pupils. With a structured programme led by qualified specialist teachers from Nursery to S6, all pupils are encouraged to engage in the arts at every level both in and out of the classroom. The P7 show experience fosters empathy and collaboration, helping students to navigate social situations and express themselves confidently.”
