A week of music and memories in Czechia

Some of our Senior School music pupils started their summer holidays with a once in a lifetime experience of performing overseas as part of the 2026 Music Tour.

The adventure began with a smooth journey to Prague, which coincided with Tour Leader Mr Boyd’s 50th birthday. The pupils quickly settled into a busy schedule, beginning with a performance on Tuesday in the beautiful town of Bor u Tachova. Following the concert, the group enjoyed a meal at the fantastic underground restaurant Chodová. The following day, the musicians gave another outstanding concert in the stunning setting of Plasy Monastery.

The second half of the week saw the Music Tour move into the centre of Prague. En route, the group stopped to visit the stunning Karlštejn Castle before enjoying lunch in a nearby village.

Thursday was the only concert-free day of the tour, providing an opportunity for the group to relax and enjoy a riverboat dinner cruise along the Vltava River. The cruise offered majestic views of Prague’s remarkable architecture and provided a memorable evening for the touring party.

On Friday, the group enjoyed a guided tour of Prague Castle before travelling to the picturesque village of Konojedy for their third concert of the week, held in the beautiful Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The pupils then had the opportunity to explore Prague for much of Saturday before preparing for the final performance of the tour that evening. The concert took place in the city centre at Hlahol Hall, where the group performed to a packed audience. Once again, the Czech audience showed its appreciation in spectacular fashion, providing an enthusiastic and memorable reception for the pupils.

Mr Boyd, Brass Instructor and trip leader shared: “It was an incredible week in Czechia. Amazing performances, cherished memories and friendships made for life - it's why we do what we do.
