Future Pathways: S4 success, more than results

For Eli, S4 has been a busy year of balancing academic study with sport, clubs, music and opportunities to get involved in the wider life of the school. His 2026 exam results are a great reflection of that hard work, with eight As in Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, Mathematics, Modern Studies, Music and Spanish, alongside an Academic Award for Modern Studies, and a Grade 4 Distinction in Clarinet.

Finding time to study alongside such a busy programme of activities was not always easy. Eli is seen regularly on the hockey pitch, representing the RGC 1st XI, Gordonians, and Northern Devils Brave Squad. With so much going on each week, he had to make some decisions about his commitments as the exam season approached. It was a challenge, but one that helped him find a balance between his studies and the activities he enjoys.

His results will now provide a strong stepping stone towards Highers and his next stage of study. Eli also credits the support of his teachers, saying they have been “extremely helpful” and provided the resources and knowledge needed to do his best.

Asked about his favourite part of school, it is perhaps no surprise that Eli chose “all the extra clubs, sports and activities”. Being able to get involved beyond the classroom has been an important part of his school experience and something he has particularly enjoyed.

One of the highlights of S4 was Projects Week, where Eli took part in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI). The experience gave him the opportunity to learn more about a dedicated charity, work with others and feel that he was making a difference. Reflecting on the week, Eli said, “It was a great week of work and activities, which allowed us to work together in teams, in our year group, whilst also making a difference to others.”

His eight As are a fantastic achievement, but they are only part of the story. S4 has also been about music, sport, clubs, community projects and making the most of the experience at Robert Gordon’s College.

With Highers ahead, Eli can now look forward to the next stage with a strong set of results and plenty of experiences to build on.

Congratulations, Eli, on a fantastic set of results and a very busy and rewarding S4.
