eSafety Evening with Robbie Ross

We are increasingly aware of the challenges faced by our young people as they navigate their online activities and develop the necessary skills to manage their use of digital technologies. In light of emerging concerns and common cyber security threats, we hosted an eSafety Information Evening for parents of P5 to S2 pupils.

The purpose of the evening was to share details of how we as a College help our young people develop the necessary skills, behaviours and habits for using digital tools, online platforms and social media.

Miss Colquhoun, RGC eSafety Coordinator shared: “The internet and online technology is an integral part of children and young people’s lives.  Used correctly, it can create wonderful opportunities for our young people, but it can also expose them to new types of risks.

"At Robert Gordon’s College, our whole school approach helps ensure staff, governors, volunteers, and parents teach children about online safety.  I was delighted to welcome families to the College and share the details of how we approach this in school, and to support families at home with digital safeguarding too.”

We were pleased to welcome Robbie Ross, a Chief Security Officer at Converged Communication Solutions and an expert in the field of eSafety. Robbie joined Converged in 2020 after 22 years with Grampian Police and then Police Scotland.

Robbie has previously spoken with classes at Robert Gordon's College and engaged with youth groups such as the Scouts, Developing the Young Workforce and Career Ready as well as multiple charities.

We are very grateful to him for sharing his expertise with our community and hope to work with him again in the future.
