Senior pupils transported their opening night audience back in time as they took to the stage to perform hit musical “Grease”.
The Craig Centre for Performing Arts was charged with excitement as S1-S6 pupils brought to life the iconic characters and vibrant energy of Rydell High. Set in the 1950s, “Grease” follows the story of Danny, Sandy, the T-Birds, and the Pink Ladies as they navigate high school to an unforgettable rock n’ roll soundtrack that has spanned generations. From the infectious harmonies of "Summer Nights" to the electrifying dance moves of "Greased Lightnin'", our talented performers and production team brought this iconic show to life, showcasing their passion for Music, Drama and Dance.
Miss Boyne, Principal Teacher of Drama shared: “We are thrilled to welcome family, friends and the wider Gordon’s community to our four night run this week.
“Our young performers lit up the stage with their enthusiasm and talent on opening night. With impressive vocals and dynamic choreography, we are so proud of the team who have pulled together to produce and perform this iconic musical. It was a thrilling and entertaining evening and we can’t wait to get back on stage tonight.”
Emma (S6), who plays Sandy, commented: “It was so much fun last night. It’s been a crazy couple of months but I am so glad we are now open and able to share it with an audience.”
Playing the part of Danny, Finlay (S6) added: “Being able to work with everyone again, for a final time has been invaluable. I can’t quite believe it’s my final show. The school show club is like a big family and it’s always a highlight of the year.”
Kara (S5), operating the lighting, highlighted: “Doing lights for Grease is really fun and has allowed me to further explore a different production area. It's just been awesome to work with such a talented cast and crew.”
Mrs Wood, Charities Committee Co-ordinator, added: “We’re also raising funds for Maggie's Aberdeen, and our Charities Committee members are selling a variety of snacks and refreshments at each performance. Don't miss the chance to participate in our chocolate tombola and a fun-filled game where you can guess the location of Greased Lightning! We are grateful to everyone for their generous support so far and look forward to welcoming the remaining audiences. Enjoy a treat while supporting a local charity."
