Kirsty and Joel accept places at Knightswood

The drama team at Robert Gordon’s College are delighted to announce that Kirsty D (now S6) and Joel A (now S5) have accepted places to attend The Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood Secondary School in Glasgow.

Since starting at the College both Kirsty and Joel have been well known faces through various school shows, choir and dance performances over the years and now embark on a new exciting chapter building their theatre skills.

At their new school, Joel and Kirsty will learn from dance and musical theatre professionals within the school’s internationally acclaimed facilities where some of the top performers in dance and theatre have trained.

Kirsty said: “Gaining a place at The Dance School of Scotland to study the S6 fast-track musical theatre course means so much to me. I feel like all my years of hard work have been recognised and paid off. I am so excited to work even harder and to develop my performance skills.

“Robert Gordon’s College has offered me so many amazing opportunities to develop my skills such as participating in school shows, choirs and the dance club. The teachers have also been brilliant offering support and encouragement throughout the years.”

Reflecting on his time at the College, Joel commented: “Getting a place at Knightswood to study musical theatre is an amazing opportunity and I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for the help and opportunities in my school life at the College.

“I have enjoyed every minute of being at RGC, especially doing the school show and taking part in every opportunity the drama department has given me!”

Sad to see a few of their stars set off to pastures new, the Drama department said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Kirsty and Joel.

“Kirsty has been heavily involved within the department during her time at the College and has just completed her Higher Drama. She has been a keen member of school shows with stand out performances as Glinda in the Wizard of Oz and most recently, Pilar in Legally Blonde.

“Joel has just completed his National 5 and played alongside Kirsty in Legally Blonde taking on the part of Warner. We wish them both every success at Knightswood and we look forward to watching them in the West End.”
