Covering the song ‘Butterfly Wings’, a song inspired by the story of three girls from Aberdeen born with severe Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB), Lauren (pictures centre) wanted to help raise awareness about the condition.
Lyrics to the song were penned 18 years ago by Debra Kirkness, Director of Music4U shared with The Press & Journal that she is delighted to see the song raising money for the two charities. She said: “I wrote this song for them [the girls] to say that we’re here for them and that we care.”
Lauren shared: “When I recorded this song my main inspiration was to help raise awareness about EB and unfortunately many children suffer from this horrendous condition which affects their whole lives.
“The children who are affected with EB are called butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly’s wing. Even the smallest touch can cause the skin to fall off which causes massive amounts of pain and eventually they develop skin cancer and die.
“I think Debra UK is so important for all those children to give them help, support, and hope that one day there will be a cure.”
