Last Friday, hundreds of walkers who took to the streets of Aberdeen in support of Maggie’s Aberdeen were warmly welcomed to Robert Gordon’s College during the 2023 Culture Crawl event. 

The evening offered a night of surprises, giving walkers access to some of Aberdeen’s most iconic venues with live entertainment along the way – all while raising money to support people living with cancer. Walkers visiting Schoolhill were warmly welcomed by the Robert Gordon’s College Pipe Band and Highland Dancers, and those who stopped to rest their feet in the iconic MacRobert Hall took the opportunity to donate their spare change on the temporarily installed Maggie’s logo, all of which will go to Maggie’s to support the amazing work they do for families across the region.

The College is pleased to support Maggie's Aberdeen as they celebrate their 10th birthday this year. Richard Stewart (Class of '88), Centre Fundraising Manager shared: “Culture Crawl is special event in Maggie’s fundraising calendar and it’s great to see Robert Gordon’s get involved to support our effort. As one of the city’s landmarks the school is the perfect venue to include on our route and on the night our supporters were treated to wonderful hospitality and entertainment – we couldn’t have asked for more! On a personal level you could say my career has gone full circle since I was a pupil at RGC when I undertook my first fundraising challenge over 40 years ago!”

Robin Macpherson, Head of College, commented: “We are thrilled to have been a part of this wonderful event, supporting team Maggie’s and the incredible work they do for families across the region. It’s especially fitting that Richard, who is a former pupil of the school, is doing incredible work in a charity such as Maggie’s, where giving to the community is ingrained in all that they do. This something we emphasise to all our pupils - Robert Gordon’s College was founded on an ethos of service, and service continues to be just as important in daily school life today.”
