National success in hockey for former pupils

Congratulations to ASI Merlins Gordonians Ladies 1st team who travelled to Edinburgh to play their final match of the season against 3rd placed Inverleith. Team captain Holly Steiger scored a league winning equaliser to secure the win over Inverleith. Well done to goalkeeper Siobhan Cowie and her defence who played a huge part in the success of the season, and the team of goalscorers, midfielders, defenders, and their coach Adam Walker who have greatly contributed to this success.

This season results:

Played 18: Won 12 - Drew 4 - Lost 2 = 40 Points

Goals for 42 Goals against 9

ASI Merlins Gordonians have played in the National League 2 for many years after first winning the National League 3 in 2007 and again in 2010 and 2013. The team will now represent the club in the top league of Scottish ladies hockey and will be the first North District team to have achieved this for 17 years. Next season Countesswells Playing Fields will welcome some of the top teams in the country featuring international players who will play there for the first time. This is a great achievement for Gordonian Sport and Robert Gordon's College and we are all immensely proud of our Ladies 1sts’ achievement.

Congratulations ASI Merlins Gordonians Ladies!
