National Careers Week 2024

Senior School pupils have been participating in a range of thought provoking activities as part of National Careers Week 2024.

In form classes, pupils were encouraged to dive headfirst into daily themed events, from exploring which jobs they may enjoy to linking passions to future jobs and identifying career goals to hearing real life stories of young people who've turned their long-loved hobbies and interests into jobs.

Miss Braid, Teacher of Business Education shared: “National Careers Week was a resounding success for all pupils from S1 to S6, offering themed career days throughout the week. From Motivation Monday to Your Future Friday, each day provided invaluable opportunities for students to gain transferable skills and knowledge for the working world. These themed days not only offered insight into future career pathways but also supported young people to thrive as they prepare for their professional journeys and careers beyond the classroom”.

Supporting appropriate career aspirations which match the interests and talents of our pupils is an integral part of the pastoral programme at Robert Gordon’s College. Our pastoral team, including the Head of Universities and Careers, is available to provide individual support to meet the needs of all our pupils.

With greater than 95% of pupils going on to study at institutions of Higher and Further Education around the world after leaving school, senior pupils are supported through the university and college application process and are offered interview practice by College staff and visiting professionals.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a one-week celebration, aiming to provide a focus for careers and to help support young people develop an awareness and excitement about their future pathways.
