Mrs Lloyd-Wiggens gives her book recommendations for National Storytelling Week

Recognising this week’s National Storytelling Week, our Junior School Librarian, Mrs Lloyd-Wiggins shares her recommended reads with pupils from Nursery to P7.

Reading is core to all our work in the Junior School. Whether it is focusing on learning to read in the early stages or understanding inference as our children progress up the school.

Set up in 1993 by The Society for Storytellers, National Storytelling Week continues to create a community of storytellers and book lovers across the UK and empowers individuals to find their voice as a storyteller.

Mrs Webb said: "Reading is taught in a variety of ways, however our desire is to try and instil a love for reading which will be lifelong. I have been in classes where Mrs Lloyd-Wiggins is sharing different genres of books to try and encourage children to extend their reading experiences."

Mrs Lloyd-Wiggins added: “My Nursery and P1 recommendations are for books to be shared between parents and children. Once children are starting to read themselves, the selection changes.”
