Innovative rooftop garden wins 2nd place in national competition

Kate and Emily have been making waves in the AtkinsRéalis Net Zero Superheroes Competition securing 2nd place, out of 330 UK entries, for their innovative rooftop Eco Garden design.

The competition, which saw participation from 40 schools across the UK, tasked pupils with developing creative solutions to help their schools contribute towards achieving net zero emissions.

Kate and Emily's Eco Garden idea impressed judges with its ingenuity and practicality, earning them a well-deserved spot among the top 15 finalists out of over 330 submissions. Judges commented: “We loved that your idea connected to your personal interests in gardening. We were particularly impressed by your poster – the drawings were fantastic and really helped us to visualise your design. We also liked how you researched similar ideas around the world and used them as inspiration, not only to help your school to reach net zero, but to improve your wellbeing too. Keep up the great work!"
