It has been an eventful time in Nursery. A recent highlight has been welcoming Mandarin to the weekly specialist teaching programme.
Mrs Kinsey, Nursery Teacher commented: “Bringing Mandarin into Nursery is an exciting addition to our curriculum this year for all our young learners. It was interesting for the Nursery team too who participated in the lesson. We look forward to seeing Mrs Adam next week for our weekly lessons.”
Mrs Adam, Teacher of Mandarin shared: “Early years are a golden age group for language skills to be practised. It has been a really fun and enjoyable time for me and the kids - they communicate enthusiastically with me and enjoy expressing themselves. As well as talking, storytelling and singing Chinese songs together, we also do games. Sometimes they can be quite competitive! I believe this is a great learning experience for them and can lead to valuable life skills.”
Talking about her Mandarin lesson, Bethan said: “Learning Mandarin is fun. I like it when the teacher uses puppets.”
Last week Nursery children were learning about Robert Gordon in preparation for Founder’s Day. They thoroughly enjoyed waving their flags as the Senior School processed to church.
Mr Digby who is new to the Nursery Team highlighted: “It was really fun to see how excited the Nursery children were when the Pipe Band started the procession. It was an amazing experience to see the whole College outside in the quad supporting the senior pupils as they processed to Church.”
Nursery pupil Amber said: “I really enjoyed waving my flag. I would like to be in the Pipe Band one day.”
