Pipe Band Update: November and December 2025

The RGC Pipe Band have had a particularly busy close to the year, filling the months of November and December with a wide range of performances and activities.

They started the month of November by supporting a series of Remembrance events including the CCF Remembrance, assemblies and a joint collaboration with the Banchory Pipe Band on Remembrance Sunday. You can read more about these events here.

The Robert Gordon’s College Pipe Band and Highland Dancers were delighted to be invited to perform at the opening of the Aberdeen Christmas Village, marking the start of the city’s festive celebrations in true RGC style.

At the end of November, the annual St Andrew's Night Concert saw pupils from the Pipe Band and Highland Dancers lit up the MacRobert Hall stage with a vibrant celebration of Scotland’s traditions. The show opened with ‘Our Pipe Band Journey’, a special video capturing this year’s performances and musical moments. The evening featured the Highland Fling, powerful drum salutes, solo piping, and even a special recording all the way from Dubai featuring former pupils Adam and Ryan.

Some of our Senior pipers travelled to Dollar Academy to participate in the Scottish Schools Trio and Quartet Competition, delivering outstanding performances against strong competition from schools across the country. Their hard work and commitment were rewarded with an excellent result as the RGC A band quartet secured 5th place in the prize list.

The RGC Pipe Band were delighted to support the P&J/Evening Express Christmas Concert this year at the P&J Live Arena. This concert not only marks the start of the festive period in the Granite City but also raises thousands of pounds for local charities. This much-loved tradition brings together pupils, families and community groups in a heartwarming celebration of music, generosity and seasonal spirit.

School Pipe Major Murray B was the latest piper from the RGC Pipe Band to perform in the Gordon Highlanders Recital Series. In a spectacular setting, Murray showcased an outstanding musical performance opening for Champion Piper Pipe Major Ben Duncan. Murray had support from lots of our young pipers who were proud to support him on the night.

The Pipe Band rounded off a busy season by joining forces with the choirs at the RGC Christmas Concert, bringing warmth, festive spirit, and a wonderful sense of togetherness to a memorable evening.
