Schoolhill was once again alive with the sound of Scottish music during the 2023 RGC Pipe Band Summer Camp. 

Junior and Senior School pupils attended the Piping and Drumming Summer School, expanding their musical abilities with practical group lessons, 1-2-1 lessons with members of the Pipe Band Tuition Team, repertoire classes, musical reading skills, maintenance and technique clinics and so much more. 

Throughout the week, some of our Senior School Pipe Band members also had the opportunity to lead their own breakout sessions with their younger peers, helping to further develop their leadership and teaching skills. 

The week culminated in a fantastic musical display at a very sunny Union Terrace Gardens, where pupils performed to family, friends, supporters of the Pipe Band and visitors to the gardens. 

Speaking about the week, Mr Sumner, Contingent Commander shared: “It's been amazing to see everyone gel together so well in such a short space of time and wonderful to see pipers and drummers from all year groups integrate so well musically and socially together. Thanks to all the Pipe Band Tuition Team and senior pupils for all their support during a busy but productive week.”
