CCF RAF cadets and staff enjoyed an excellent day of gliding at RAF Kirknewton on Saturday 9 March 2019 despite windy and very cold conditions. Our four girls followed up their earlier ‘Part Task Trainer’ simulator work with two launches to qualify for their Blue Gliding Wings, the first to be awarded to RGC CCF RAF cadets under the new training scheme.
Flying Officer Rhodes also sampled the steep climb following her winch launch in the strong wind and assured us that the experience had been exhilarating despite her apparent initial misgivings.
We are extremely grateful to staff of 661 Volunteer Gliding School at Kirknewton for their enthusiastic welcome and hospitality throughout the day.
