The CCF Pipe Band had a busy end to the school year with the visit of Scotch College Pipe Band and Highland Dancers from Australia during the final week of term. As a school we hosted their visit for the day which included a Piping, Drumming and Highland Dancing Workshop, Piping the Leavers Service back into Schoolhill and a picnic on the front lawn in the evening to watch Porthlethen and District Pipe Band practice before the European Championships in Inverness the following weekend. During the early part of the summer holidays we had 10 pipers from across the school perform Highland Cathedral with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers on stage at the Echt show in front of a packed audience of over 1000 people. More recently we had the privilege of performing at Miss Pike's wedding wedding on a glorious sunny day in Banchory. The latter half of the summer holidays include performing at a Mega Aberdeen event at Crathes Castle and a visit to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow before a series of Piping and Drumming Workshops during the last week of the holidays to ensure we arrive back into the new school year in August in good shape.
