RGC nominated for award to honour lockdown community heroes

We are delighted to announce that Robert Gordon’s College has been nominated for an award in light of the Biology department arranging to donate safety gloves and goggles to VSA.

Prospect 13 launched the New Day Awards to shine a light on the many people and organisations who have gone above and beyond to support the local community during the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

Mrs Strang, Biology Technician commented: "We were aware of shortages of PPE in the care sector due to the Coronavirus pandemic and wanted to donate stock from the Biology Department to support the amazing work that the staff and volunteers at VSA do. They provide such an invaluable service to the people of Aberdeen."

Explaining the motivation behind the launch, Cerri McDonald, Prospect 13 said: “In the midst of adjusting to these grey times, we wanted to shine a light on the many people and organisations who have gone above and beyond to support the local community. We are both delighted and overwhelmed that so many people have jumped on board this project to honour some of the great work that is taking place. For me, learning more about the diverse range of support and kindness being seen across the North East, truly makes me proud of my roots.  I feel humbled and inspired at the heart-warming, old school community spirit.”

Mr Mills, Head of College shared: “We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Biology department for their support, and a special thanks to Jenny Strang, who was instrumental in delivering this initiative. You can vote online until Thursday 30th April.”
