RGC Sports Days 2025: From first steps to championships victories

Nursery
Our youngest learners had a fantastic day at their Nursery Sports Day, filled with laughter, sunshine, and plenty of fun.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather and started the day with some energetic warm-ups alongside everyone’s favourite mascot - Peli the Pelican! From sprinting in running races to trying potted sports activities, including throwing and jumping, their enthusiasm was truly infectious. It was wonderful to see so many beaming smiles and hear the joyful cheers echoing throughout the day.

The variety of activities ensured that every child could take part and shine in their own way, encouraging a strong sense of teamwork, determination, and healthy competition right from the earliest years.

Mrs Melville, Acting Assistant Head of PE, said: “The Nursery Teddy Bear Olympics themed Sports Day was a great success. The day began with the children, staff and parents warming up with Peli the Pelican to music. Then each Nursery pupil participated in fun races on the track, including a sprint through the forest, pancake balance, teddy bear carry and sack and water relays. The children then rotated round jumping and throwing stations on the field. Every child was celebrated with Sports Day stickers.”

Junior School Sports Day (P1-P7)
What a truly memorable Sports Day it was for our Primary 1 to Primary 7 pupils. Blessed with glorious sunshine, the day provided the perfect backdrop for an exciting and action-packed event that brought together pupils, staff, and families in celebration of sport and teamwork.

Throughout the day, pupils competed enthusiastically for house points, taking part in a variety of challenges including running races, obstacle courses, team games designed to test speed, agility, and cooperation. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and excitement as children encouraged one another, cheered on their teammates, and gave their very best effort.

Congratulations to Straloch, who emerged victorious as this year’s Junior Sports Day Champions!

However, the spirit of the day was about so much more than winning. Every pupil demonstrated incredible community spirit, leadership skills, and resilience, values that lie at the heart of our school community.

Miss N Stephen, Head of PE, shared: "It was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and joy our pupils showed throughout the Junior School Sports Day. “These events are about nurturing confidence, inspiring active participation, and creating unforgettable experiences. The teamwork and house camaraderie on display throughout the whole afternoon was incredible! It was also fantastic to see parents participate in the fiercely competitive and entertaining parents races. Everyone is already looking forward to another exciting Sports Day next year!”
