Robert Gordon's host CCF Beating the Retreat at Edinburgh Castle

The Robert Gordon's College Pipe Band had the privilege of hosting this year's CCF Beating the Retreat on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle this year.

The Massed Pipes and Drums of the CCF in Scotland paraded with over 150 pipers, drummers and highland dancers, and performed to an audience of well over 300 spectators.

The salute was taken by Wing Commander (Retd) Montgomery and the Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Major General Bruce with Mr Macpherson also among the VIPs. This was followed by a reception in the Great Hall where RGC guests, including parents and friends of the RGC Pipe Band, were invited.

Our pipers, drummers and highland dancers were humbled to be given a private tour of the Scottish National War Memorial by the Governor of Edinburgh Castle where they paid their respects to soldiers from the Gordon Highlanders (our affiliated regiment) many of whom fell valiantly in war and conflict.
