RGC Community Celebrate Queen's Jubilee

Nursery and Junior School Jubilee Picnic

The children from across the Nursery and Junior School thoroughly enjoyed their Jubilee Picnic today. The sun was out and the Quadrangle provided a wonderful setting in front of The Auld Hoose.

In the lead up to the event, each year group has been learning about Her Majesty The Queen through the decades and crafting their very own crowns. The Junior School Pipe Band and highland dancers kicked off the lunchtime celebrations with a fantastic performance to their peers. Leo (P4) shared his excitement ahead of attending Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace tomorrow with his Grandma.

Pupils enjoyed listening and dancing to music, eating their lunch and playing with their friends in the sunshine. They even had a visit from special guest... Peli the Pelican!

Thank you to Mrs Geddes, P5G, operational teams and Inspire Catering for organising this special event.

RGC Pipe Band Pipe Up the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon at Dunnottar Castle

Our Pipe Band and Highland Dancers were honoured to be part of this special beacon event for Her Majesty, The Queen’s 70th year as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth on her Platinum Jubilee. The Beacon was one of thousands being lit in the UK and the Commonwealth, and formed part of the official programme announced by Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee Weekend.

The Lord-Lieutenant for Kincardineshire, Mr Alastair Mcphie, lit the Beacon at 9.45pm following a stirring rendition of a specially commissioned Jubilee bagpipe tune called Diu Regnare (Latin for 'Long to reign') composed by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell. This tune was composed specifically for the platinum anniversary of the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2, on June 2, 1952.
