Robert Burns World Federation Competition Results

The pupils had a very successful Robert Burns World Federation competition on Saturday 9th March at Portlethen Academy. Congratulations to all of our P6 and P7 performers.

Sonia, Victoria and James shared highlights from their experience.

“There were 4 categories which were poetry, singing, instrumental, and bagpipe. Everybody has practised very hard, whichever category they were in. The competition was stiff, as all the students participation were very talented, but I was lucky enough to be awarded 1st place in P7 instrument category." Sonia S (P7)

"What a great experience we all had when we were singing or doing a poem. We all had to put in a great amount of effort to get to the standard we are at and we all thoroughly enjoyed it." Victoria M (P7)

"The Burns Competition was a great event for young musicians, singers and poets. There was a marvellous amount of competitors from The College and I think we all had a fabulous time performing to our friends and family and meeting children from other schools." James G (P6)

Mrs Rose Teacher of Drama commented: "We couldn’t have felt more proud of our wonderful RGC Team who represented themselves and our school community so well once again at this year’s Burns Competition. The standard was high and the competition was tough but they each worked hard, prepared well and performed beautifully in their respective disciplines. To have five pupils now invited to represent us at a National Level is a really wonderful achievement and we are thrilled for them! We most certainly will be rooting for them on the 11th May at Irvine Royal Academy."

Mrs Massie Principal Teacher of Music added: "It was a privilege to take such a large team of pupils to the annual Burns competition. The pupils showed a great deal of courage and maturity when performing their chosen pieces and I am very proud of all their hard work. We are all very excited for the national competition and I am sure all involved will represent RGC to the very best of their ability."
