What a truly unforgettable evening it was for our S1 Musical Theatre Club, led by S6 pupil Iona. Taking centre stage at the Craig Centre for Performing Arts, the pupils performed for their families and the wider school community.
The audience were treated to a diverse range of beloved songs, showcasing the incredible talent of our young performers. Highlights included ‘When Will My Life Begin’ from Tangled, and ‘Go the Distance’ from Hercules, alongside powerful and iconic numbers such as ‘Electricity’ from Billy Elliot and ‘The Greatest Show’ from The Greatest Showman.
Iona, currently planning her move to London to study musical theatre, shared: “I started the S1 Musical Theatre Club to give S1 pupils a chance to perform on stage. As rehearsals for the school show begin while they’re still in Primary 7, they miss out on being part of it in S1, and I didn’t want them to wait a whole year just to get involved. The club gave them their moment in the spotlight, and they made the most of it. Our performance included group numbers, solos, and duets, and every single person gave it their all. They’re such a talented group, and it was amazing to see them grow in confidence and have so much fun on stage.”
Leadership roles at Robert Gordon’s College provide invaluable opportunities for our pupils to develop confidence and skills, inspire their younger peers, and gain practical experience that supports their future pathways.
