S3 pupils participate in French Sporting Languages Exchange

Some of our S3 pupils had a fantastic time at the Collège Romain Rolland where they instantly connected with their sporting exchange partners.

They enjoyed the ‘un temps splendide’ in Paris, soaking in the sights and sounds of the enchanting city. They were taken on a guided tour by their exchange partners and explored key sites such as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and Montmartre.

Part of their itinerary included a thrilling visit to La Défense Arena, where pupils cheered on Racing 92 as they faced off tough competition Toulon in the Top 14. Collège Romain Rolland have strong links with Racing 92 and the pupils were excited to visit their training centre, followed by being hosted at the Clubhouse for a farewell dinner.

Throughout the trip, pupils had the opportunity to shadow classes and participate in various sports, honing their language skills and building resilience along the way.

Mrs Duncan, Teacher of Languages, shared: “We have enjoyed another fantastic trip to Paris, hosted by the staff, pupils and their families from the Collège Romain Rolland. Now in its eighth year of partnership between our two schools, this exchange has afforded our pupils a multitude of unforgettable experiences, through a shared love of language and sport. This invaluable opportunity has allowed our pupils to improve their language skills, develop new friendships and broaden their horizons beyond the classroom. A real highlight for all of us was the chance to watch Racing 92 win against Toulon on Sunday evening, as well as the private tour around the club’s training facilities on our final day. We were also lucky enough to be gifted the rugby kit of Racing 92’s Camille Chat who plays hooker at number 2. We are all very much looking forward to welcoming the pupils and staff from Collège Romain Rolland back to Aberdeen in May.”

As the pupils bid farewell to their exchange partners and Paris, they are eagerly awaiting welcoming Collège Romain Rolland to RGC for the return leg of the exchange in May.
