Last week, S5 pupils took part in the annual Projects Week, a highly valued part of the Robert Gordon’s College curriculum that provides opportunities to develop skills, confidence and experiences beyond the classroom.

Designed around the College’s core values of Leadership, Resilience, Curiosity, Innovation and Community, the week encouraged pupils to challenge themselves, explore new interests and gain valuable life experience. Alongside work experience placements, pupils took part in a range of local and international projects.

A group travelled to Greece, exploring the birthplace of democracy and the Olympic Games while developing language skills and gaining a deeper understanding of history, politics and culture.

Those participating in CREST Awards completed STEM-based research projects, developing practical, investigative and teamwork skills while working towards nationally recognised qualifications.

In Malta, pupils undertook PADI diving courses in the Mediterranean, building confidence, resilience and independence while gaining internationally recognised qualifications.

The Fibonacci in Florence project saw pupils explore the links between mathematics, science, engineering and art through visits to some of Tuscany’s most famous historical and cultural landmarks.

New York offered an unforgettable cultural experience, with visits to iconic attractions, Broadway shows and opportunities to develop independence while navigating one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

Pupils travelling to Slovenia challenged themselves in the Julian Alps, developing resilience, leadership and teamwork through a multi-day mountain expedition, while Gold Duke of Edinburgh participants completed a demanding practice expedition in the Cairngorms.

In Morocco, pupils experienced a blend of culture and adventure, exploring Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic coast while developing cultural awareness and adaptability.

The Algarve golf project combined professional coaching with play on championship courses, helping pupils develop both sporting ability and personal responsibility.

Meanwhile, STEMQuest Boston provided an inspiring mix of science, technology and history through visits to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Museum of Science and other key landmarks.

Projects Week remains a defining feature of the Senior School experience, supporting pupils to build essential life skills, broaden their horizons, and prepare for life beyond school, while also creating lasting memories and friendships that they will carry with them for years to come.
