Rugby

We welcomed Deeside and Ellon Rugby Clubs to a damp, misty Countesswells on Saturday morning. There were some great wins for our teams through their attacking rugby, good tackling and exciting tries. The P6 teams enjoyed a round robin tournament with both visiting clubs, playing 5 x 10 minute coached games. It was excellent to have 29 boys from RGC P6 playing rugby on a Saturday morning.

Hockey

On Friday our girls and boys S2 teams played against Belhavehill School from Dunbar who were on a tour of the North of Scotland. They proved a tough match for both RGC teams with Mr Taylor, S2 girls coach, commenting that Belhavehill had superior core skills and used the ball better when they had possession. It was great to welcome a new school to Countesswells and we wished them well for the remainder of their tour.

Girls Hockey

On Saturday our teams played some competitive matches against Aberdeen Grammar School and the High School of Dundee. In his S2A match report, Mr Taylor commented that the girls played some really good hockey throughout the match. Our passing was more accurate and we had some excellent leads being made in and around the D. In their match, the S3A girls were 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go then a wonderful strike by Josie L from the top of the D into the bottom right corner made it 2-1. Two further shots were saved to deny us an equaliser but the girls should be very proud of their performance and they were unlucky not to finish with a draw.

Netball

On Tuesday our S3 Junior netball team travelled to Portlethen Academy where they won their league fixture.

Swimming

On Saturday a group of Junior and Senior School pupils competed in the Scottish Schools Swimming Finals at Tollcross Pool in Glasgow. We had some fantastic swims, in particular from S6 pupil Fraser A who won gold medals for both the 200m and 100m Freestyle.

Team of the Week: Junior and Senior School swimmers for their performances at the Scottish School Champs on Saturday.
