Sport Update w/c 27 May 2019

Our girls cricket team took part in their 2nd cricket match last Thursday when they welcomed Kingsford Primary School to Countesswells. It was great to see so many enthusiastic pupils out on the pitch enjoying their match as well as growing the interest of cricket amongst girls.

On Friday we took a team of 4 girls and 4 boys from each of S1-S3 to the annual Scottish Schools Relays competition at Hutcheson’s Grammar School in Glasgow. Four of our 6 teams qualified for the finals of their events and the results were as follows: S1 Girls: 5th place overall; S1 Boys: 6th place overall; S2 Girls and S2 Boys both just missed out on a medal by each coming 4th in their finals. We are very proud of how our teams performed.

Congratulations to S2 pupils Angela K who won the bronze medal at the Scottish Schools Pentathlon event at Grangemouth on Saturday. As part of the event Angela won the shot put with a throw of 11.03m and gained a PB with her overall points scored.

Sports Day

We would like to congratulate all our pupils who took part in another successful Sports Day on Saturday. Thankfully the weather was kind to us after the recent heavy rain so we were delighted that all events were able to take place. Everyone involved put in a huge amount of effort and there were some great performances and school records broken on the day. Congratulations to all our medal and trophy winners and to Blackfriars who were the winning house.

Team of the Week: The S1-S3 relay teams who competed in the Scottish Schools event on Friday.
