Sport Update w/c 10th February

Girls’ Hockey

Due to the poor weather conditions in the Borders, the 1st XI Plate quarter final and S3 Plate semi final matches away against Selkirk High School were postponed on Tuesday. These fixtures will now be played on Tuesday 25th February.

Netball

Congratulations to S2 on winning the Aberdeen Secondary Schools Netball Tournament. The girls were undefeated in the round robin stages where they had convincing wins against Portlethen, Cults and Westhill as well as a close win against Mackie. The girls then faced Grammar in the semi finals and played outstandingly. The final saw them face Mackie again with RGC edging ahead by 2 goals to win the tournament. The girls’ feeds into the shooting circle were excellent and they really focused on slowing the game down when required. Miss Stephen was so proud of the girls, well done to everyone.

The 3rd VII had a good win early in the week against Harlaw Academy. This was an excellent performance from the girls whose focus in the game was to always offer the ball carrier two passing options up the court and to improve communication. Team captain Gemma said she could see a strong improvement in our mid-court driving toward the ball and getting in front of our opposition’s defence. Player of the match was Maya for her shooting accuracy and high percentage of successful rebounds. Well done girls.

During senior training after school on Thursday our 1st and 2nd VII teams enjoyed a friendly fixture against each other. The 1sts won the match and there was excellent play from both teams as well as lots of fun. Player of the match was Yansika for her excellent defensive pressure.
