Nursery Sports Day
Nursery Sports Day was a joyful celebration of energy, enthusiasm, and early learning through play. Our youngest pupils took to the field with excitement and determination as they participated in a variety of fun activities, including running races, obstacle courses, and beanbag challenges. 

The event encouraged physical development while highlighting the importance of teamwork, resilience, and celebrating effort. With proud families cheering from the sidelines and the sun shining overhead, it was a memorable morning filled with smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community spirit.
 

Mrs Melville, Teacher of PE shared: "“Our anti-pre and pre-school nursery children had great fun at their annual Teddy Bear Olympic Sports Day. They took part in a range of exciting track and field activities where effort, participation and progress were celebrated. A highlight of the day was the colourful water relay race which brought lots of excitement and team spirit. Well done to all our nursery children for their fantastic enthusiasm and participation!” 

Junior Sports Day (P1-P7)
Countesswells Sports Fields echoed with the sound of Primary 1 to Primary 7 enthusiastically singing the House chant. The children had a fantastic time cheering on their peers in a multitude of activities, while families gathered to enjoy picnics and soak up the vibrant atmosphere. From sprint races and beanbag relays to obstacle courses and jumping challenges, every activity was met with enthusiasm and laughter. 

Miss Stephen, Head of PE said: “A brilliant day was had by all at the Nursery and Junior Sports Day. The pupils showed great determination, gave their absolute best and most importantly, had a lot of fun. Countesswells was packed full of activities including traditional sprints, the egg and spoon race, obstacle courses and fast paced relay races. 

“Every pupil competed in energetic and friendly house team challenges where an impressive amount of house points were on offer. The house competition was incredibly close, coming right down to the final events before the winner was decided, however I am pleased to announce that this year's champions were Blackfriars, congratulations.  

“A huge well done to all RGC pupils and also to the parents who took part in the highly competitive parents races. Thank you to the Pipe Band and everyone who came out to cheer RGC on, what a fantastic time!”
 

P5-S6 Championship Sports Day
On Saturday 6th June, Countesswells was buzzing with energy for the annual P5-S6 Championship Sports Day, held alongside the RGCPA Fun Day. 

The event showcased athletic talent, team pride and House spirit across the Junior and Senior Schools. Pupils competed in a wide range of events, including sprints, distance races, long jump, high jump and throwing disciplines.

Miss Duddy, Teacher of PE, shared: “Championship Sports Day is always a highlight of the school year. With a record number of pupils signing up to heats this year, it was fantastic to see pupils from P5 to S6 challenging themselves, supporting one another and demonstrating such incredible House spirit. Seven school records were broken this year, which just goes to show the talent that is present within our ranks. It was rather fitting that the final record to be broken was in the Senior Boys’ Relay, the last event of the day. The atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant, and I am immensely proud of every pupil who took part and contributed to making the event such a success.”

Mr McLeod, Director of Sport said: “Our Sports Days are a highlight of the school year, bringing together pupils of all ages to celebrate participation, achievement and House spirit. From our youngest learners taking part in fun challenges to our senior pupils competing at championship level, these events provide opportunities for every child to develop a love for physical activity. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, determination and support for one another throughout the week, with pupils, staff and families all contributing to a fantastic sense of community.”
