Tanish wins Aberdeen Drawing Competition

Congratulations to P7 pupil Tanish who won the Heart of our City Drawing Competition. The competition was launched by Aberdeen Inspired to allow young creatives the opportunity to transform a city centre building into their own special work of art during Easter.

Tanish shared: "I took part in the Aberdeen Inspired Heart of our City competition because I am very passionate about drawing and am always keen to share my art. Also, I know that the children of the modern day will be the next generation and I wanted to show my ideas for the new music hall. My idea was to try to make the Music Hall more attractive because on the outside it’s a little bit dull. As Aberdeen is famous for its granite buildings I wanted to keep the granite but still make it attractive for other people. I added the nightingale because the nightingale sings very well and symbolises music. We need to let go of our shyness and express ourselves.

"I am extremely pleased that my design was chosen as the winner. The prizes were a family ticket to this year’s pantomime at HMT, a movie pass to Belmont Cinema and a pizza making session at Mac’s Pizzeria. I am very grateful for this opportunity and will never forget it."

Adrian Watson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Inspired, commented: “Tanish not only splendidly drew our wonderful revamped Music Hall building but captured the current mood perfectly with his nightingale design.”
