Virtual concert brings the community together at Christmas

One of the highlights of the school calendar is our annual Christmas Concert at the Aberdeen Music Hall. With the current restrictions in place, this is not possible but the Music department didn't let this stop the music, and along with various bands and choirs throughout the College, broadcast a virtual Christmas Concert to families and friends this evening.

Mr Pearson, Assistant Head of Music shares: "There is always such a fantastic atmosphere at the Music Hall concerts and the pupils invariably love the whole experience, from the start of rehearsals in October to performing to parents and friends on stage. This year was obviously going to be different but I was very keen to engage as many of our talented musicians as possible and to create a virtual alternative. We have had a great response from the pupils and staff and managed to produce a full programme of musical items, all performed to our usual high standards. The pupils have not only enjoyed the experience but shown great skill and enthusiasm."

Working with Mr Pearson, Conor and Hugo (S6) produced the final broadcast.

Conor says: "It has been a great opportunity to give back to the school in my final year. I am grateful for the school allowing me to be part of this project and letting me develop my editing skills to a higher degree."

Hugo adds: "'It has been great to assist the College with the virtual concert. I have been grateful for the opportunity to improve my mixing whilst working collaboratively towards a deadline. The skills and experience which I have gained from this will be useful beyond school."
