Our S1 pupils had a fantastic trip to Badaguish, near Aviemore, as part of our Outdoor Education and S1 Transition Programme.
On arrival, pupils enjoyed a packed lunch before getting straight into the action, taking part in a series of team challenges designed to develop communication, leadership, cooperation and problem-solving skills.
The activities continued throughout the trip, with pupils exploring the surrounding woodlands and moorland on a wildlife walk, putting their coordination to the test with archery, tackling an orienteering challenge and taking on the Treezone high ropes course.
Later that afternoon, pupils settled into their rooms before coming together for dinner. A House quiz provided some friendly competition and plenty of laughs, before everyone headed off for a well-earned night’s sleep.
After a hearty breakfast, pupils enjoyed another packed day of activities, with the infamous RGC Nukemball taking to the courts in the evening. There were even some pupils heading out for early morning runs, all in the name of getting those House steps up for the RGC Global House Challenge.
By day three, it was time to pack up and prepare for the final activity. After enjoying lunch at the centre, pupils made their way back to Countesswells to meet their families, bringing with them plenty of memories, stories and, no doubt, a fair amount of washing from an energetic and action-packed trip.
Reflecting on the trip, Mr Buchanan, Deputy Head S1/S2, said: “Badaguish is such an important part of our S1 transition programme. It gives pupils the chance to make new friends, get to know their classmates, build confidence and develop strong relationships through shared experiences. It has been fantastic to see pupils supporting one another, trying new things and really beginning to settle into their new year group.”
It was a fantastic opportunity for our S1 pupils to make new friends, try new activities, build confidence and create memories together as they begin their journey in their new year group.
