Blaire (S6) spent his Easter break furthering his knowledge of filmmaking at the National Film and Television School.

Selected from over 400 applicants from across the UK, Blaire earned a place in the exclusive cohort of just 54 participants in the NFTS academy programme, highlighting both his passion for film and his impressive potential in the industry.

Blaire shared: “It was my first time on a film set and it gave me a really good insight to what it would be like to work in the industry.

“I spent two weeks working on a short film called ‘Echoes of the Mind’, a science-fiction film following a scientist working with artificial intelligence. During filming, I had the opportunity to be a stand-in, which was really exciting as it helped to frame the shots and sort any challenges before they placed the actress in the shot.”

Miss Boyne, Principal Teacher of Drama, said: “We have loved hearing of Blaire's time recording with the NTS Academy. Blaire has always had a passion for film during his time at Gordon's and has recorded multiple school events for us. This was such an incredible opportunity for him as he heads off to study film next year. We cannot wait to see the finished product.”

The programme also featured a series of industry masterclasses, including sessions with UK-based executives from Disney, who offered insights into film marketing, as well as a fascinating discussion with the producers of Star Wars series, Andor.

We are delighted to share that following his dreams of working within the creative industries, Blaire has accepted a place to study Filmmaking, with a focus on Cinematography, at the SAE Institute in Glasgow.
