Eleven CCF RAF section cadets travelled to RAF Kirknewton as part as their ongoing flight training where the cadets were awarded their Blue Flying Wings after an excellent day in the skies.

Flt Lt Rhodes shared: "All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience which, for all of the cadets, was their first flight in a glider and, for three, their very first time in an RAF aircraft following the easing of COVID restrictions.

"After a number of cancelled weekends due to bad weather, the cadets were blessed with brilliant weather all day and fantastic views over Edinburgh and the Forth bridges.

"Thanks are due, as always, to the team of volunteer instructors and ground crew at Kirknewton for their enthusiastic welcome and expert training."
