Throughout their time at Gordon’s, our S6 leavers have embodied the values of the College; integrity, ambition, curiosity, and kindness. From classroom debates and sports competitions to concerts, clubs, and charity work, they have enriched every corner of school life. Many have served as prefects, mentors and role models, setting a powerful example for younger pupils and helping to shape a positive and inclusive school culture.

The end of their College journey was marked by the annual S6 Prizegiving and graduation ceremony at the Aberdeen Music Hall. The ceremony began with S6 bagpiper Murray piping the platform party into the hall, before Chair of Governors Kevin Reynard welcomed guests and Head of College Robin Macpherson reflected on another exceptional year. 

The presentation of S6 prizes followed, recognising the outstanding accomplishments of this year's graduating class. Awards were presented by Mrs Smith, Head of Senior School, alongside Janice Sherrington from Kayleigh's Wee Stars, celebrating the hard work, commitment and contribution of our senior pupils. A reflective moment followed with a reading of Extract from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, delivered by Naira before the S6 Choir and S6 String Ensemble performed ‘You’re Still the One’ which left not a dry eye in our audience. The musical programme continued with JoJo performing The Leavers' Song by Allan Ahlberg, providing a fitting tribute to the graduating year group. 

This year's emotional Graduation Address was delivered by staff leaver and Teacher of English, Arlene Knudsen who shared words of encouragement and inspiration as pupils prepare for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. The Senior Concert Band then performed Highlights from Brave, bringing energy to the celebrations before Vice School Captain Abbie who delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of the Graduating Class. 

Graduation certificates were presented by the President of the Gordonian Association David Rennie, officially welcoming the Class of 2026 into the worldwide Gordonian community.

The ceremony concluded with a special presentation to the College's charity partner, Kayleigh's Wee Stars. Thanks to the remarkable fundraising efforts of pupils, staff and families throughout the year, Robert Gordon's College proudly presented a cheque for more than £32,000. 

We were then delighted to welcome families back to Schoolhill for a drinks reception, in which the S6 cohort enjoyed taking photographs and spending one last afternoon with each other.

Many of you have made a significant contribution to our school community, not only during your final year but throughout your time with us. Your leadership, commitment and achievements have left a positive legacy for those who follow.

“As you take your next steps, whatever they may be, we wish you every success and happiness for the future. Make the most of every opportunity and value the friendships and experiences you've gained along the way. We are proud of all you have achieved and look forward to seeing where your next steps take you. Keep in touch - you will always be welcome back.”
