We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Neil Buchanan as the new Deputy Head of Senior School (S3-S4) with specific responsibility for the co-curricular life of the school. Neil is an experienced senior leader and brings with him a wealth of experience in academic and pastoral, co-curricular, leadership and outdoor programmes. A keen sportsman and coach, Neil represented Scotland U18s and Scottish Universities at rugby.

Taking up his appointment at the beginning of the academic session 2021-2022, Neil joins Robert Gordon’s College from Reigate Grammar School (RGS) in Surrey, which is one of the leading HMC schools in the south of England. At RGS Neil is Assistant Head and has previously held roles as the Head of Upper School and Head of Chemistry. 
 
Neil attended Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and holds a BSc Hons in Chemistry from University of Edinburgh and a Science PGCE from University of Roehampton in London.
 
Speaking about his appointment Neil shares: "Mhairi my wife, my two children and I are excited about relocating to Aberdeen to join the Robert Gordon's community. The recruitment process revealed the School's warm and welcoming environment, and I look forward to meeting the S3 and S4 pupils and parents. Leading on pastoral care through co-curricular opportunities is a passion of mine within education and it has become ever more important during the past year. 
 
“I am looking forward to exploring the outdoor education opportunities in Aberdeen and surrounding countryside. As well as, seeing the brilliant efforts of the pupils through participation in concerts, performances, clubs, societies and their efforts on the sports field.”
