Robert Gordon’s College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Stacey Hardie as the new Director of Sport. Mrs Hardie took up her new role on 1 August 2026 and will play a central role in shaping and delivering the College’s ambitious vision for the future of sport.

Sport is at the heart of the RGC experience, helping pupils develop character, teamwork, resilience and the confidence to thrive. As the College has grown, so too have participation, the range of sports programmes and the aspirations of our pupils. Mrs Hardie’s appointment comes at an important time as RGC builds on this strong foundation and looks to further develop sport across the College.

Mrs Hardie brings extensive experience within RGC, having previously served as Head of Physical Education and, more recently, Head of S1. Her strong knowledge of the College and its pupils, combined with her pastoral and educational leadership experience, make her well placed to lead the next phase of RGC’s sports programme.

A former international netball player, Mrs Hardie also brings a strong sporting background and first-hand understanding of the positive impact sport can have on young people. In her new role, she will focus on increasing participation, supporting sporting excellence and creating opportunities for pupils to develop across a wide range of sports and performance pathways.

Our PE and Sport pathway is about every pupil, at every stage and on every journey, providing opportunities to develop physical literacy, confidence and fundamental movement skills through participation, competition and performance, reflecting their individual interests, abilities and aspirations. Ultimately, we want to inspire every pupil to enjoy being active, achieve their personal goals and develop a lifelong connection with physical activity and sport.”

Mrs Clare Smith, Head of Senior School, added: “We are delighted to welcome Mrs Hardie to the role of Director of Sport. She brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of RGC and a genuine passion for supporting young people through sport. Stacey takes on the role at an exciting time for the College, as we build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to invest in our sporting provision. We look forward to seeing her bring her expertise and vision to this next phase, ensuring that sport continues to be an important and enriching part of the RGC experience for every pupil.”

Mrs Hardie’s appointment comes as RGC launches its new £3 million Campaign for Sport, which will invest in facilities, programmes, coaching and sporting opportunities across the College. Countesswells Sports Campus will be a major focus of the campaign, alongside investment in athletic development and the continued strengthening of sports programmes across RGC.
