Six pupils attended the annual Energise Your Future event at the SubSea Expo conference held at the P&J Live Arena.

The pupils were given the opportunity to explore STEM related challenges including robot programming, electronic circuitry and ROV control before attending a series of different talks from companies that were presenting on the exhibition floor. This included a range of different engineering fields required for the North East oil and gas industry from subsea to shipping.

Mr McEwan said: "The event allowed pupils to speak with industry experts, explore the different disciplines of engineering and network, enhancing their knowledge of future career opportunities. The pupils were surprised about how varied a STEM related career can be."

Anish, S4 added: "The event was extremely insightful and allowed us to explore the opportunities available to us and find out what variety of skills are required to succeed in an engineering environment."
